Here we will focus on public and private education for children, and on higher education for traditional and non-traditional students. Never in the history of the world has the need for education been as great as it is now. Students are subjected to ever increasing demands in their abilities to rationalize higher level math and reading strategies. This is not a good time for public education in particular, since emphasis has moved from classical education to a post modern mess of almost obsessive importance placed on standardized testing outcomes, rather than other, more accurate metrics for evaluating student growth and performance across key subjects.
Every teacher is faced with a choice. They can either teach what is required of them and drop all ties with students at 5pm when they go home or they can take an active interest in bettering the students that come before them. Teachers are more than instructors. They are life coaches and deserve our respect and admiration.
